Dr. Wilcox

David J. Wilcox, DMD

Dr. David Wilcox is dedicated to providing each one of his patients with comprehensive and compassionate dental care, expertly tailored to their needs, preferences, and wishes. Whether a patient needs extensive restorative dentistry or whether a patient would simply like to maintain their healthy smile for many years to come, Dr. Wilcox is committed to providing everyone in his chair with a roadmap to oral health that reflects both their dental history and their oral health goals for the future.

Dr. Wilcox grew up on a farm in rural Western Pennsylvania. After earning his degree in biology from the University of Montana, he attended dental school at the University of Pittsburgh followed by an intensive one year general practice residency at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas. During his residency, he gained advanced training in a wide range of procedures and specialties, including Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, Conscious Sedation, and Emergency/Trauma. In addition, he learned in detail how to closely and accurately evaluate a patient’s total oral health needs and create a comprehensive plan to meet those needs.

After starting his first dental practice in Nevada following his residency, Dr. Wilcox returned to Missoula and opened Montana Dental Arts. Outside of the office, Dr. Wilcox enjoys spending time with his wife, Crista, and their four young children. He spends his free time hunting, fishing, kayaking, and keeping up with Grizzly Football.

What Dr. Wilcox loves about his job:

I love when a plan comes together. When treatment is complete and my patient is comfortable and happy with their treatment results. It is very gratifying to initiate maintenance on a patient and report that their teeth and gums are in great condition! They do not need any dental treatment at this time and I will see them for their next evaluation in 6 months.

What Dr. David Wilcox loves about Montana Dental Arts:

I love when we can help a patient in need. When a patient comes to me in pain and our treatment allows them to sleep, eat and function comfortably. I love creating smiles. It’s great when a tooth or teeth replacement options provides a patient with the comfort, function, and smile they have been missing.

Meet The Team

Dental Hygienists

Jolynn – Lead Registered Dental Hygienist

What Jolynn loves about her job:

As a dental hygienist, I really enjoy getting to work one-on-one with my patients. Each patient has a unique set of concerns and conditions, and I enjoy offering suggestions and treatments to help them to improve their oral health and hopefully their general health as well. I like seeing the progress that a patient can make from one appointment to the next. Also, I like educating our patients on ways to maintain dental health for a lifetime. I always want patients to understand that avoiding dental diseases like decay and periodontal disease is much easier than trying to correct or reverse dental conditions.

What Jolynn loves about Montana Dental Arts:

I am proud to work at Montana Dental Arts because I feel that we offer our patients thorough and comprehensive dental care. Patients, especially new patients, often leave our office saying that they have never had such a thorough evaluation as they have had with Dr Wilcox. I also love that we tailor our treatment options to try to meet each patient’s unique situation and goals. We realize that everyone has different needs and ambitions, and we work hard to match those needs to provide them with a level of care that we are proud of and that the patient is happy to have completed.
