About Us
Montana Dental Arts is a single practitioner dental office located in Missoula, Montana. We offer patients throughout Western Montana a wide range of dental services and procedures to maintain health, comfort and a beautiful smile for life. Our passion and goal is to develop an individualized, well planned, and comprehensive path to dental health for each of our patients based on their wants and needs.
David J. Wilcox, DMD
Dr. David Wilcox is dedicated to providing each one of his patients with comprehensive and compassionate dental care, expertly tailored to their needs, preferences, and wishes. Whether a patient needs extensive restorative dentistry or whether a patient would simply like to maintain their healthy smile for many years to come, Dr. Wilcox is committed to providing everyone in his chair with a roadmap to oral health that reflects both their dental history and their oral health goals for the future.
Dr. Wilcox grew up on a farm in rural Western Pennsylvania. After earning his degree in biology from the University of Montana, he attended dental school at the University of Pittsburgh followed by an intensive one year general practice residency at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas. During his residency, he gained advanced training in a wide range of procedures and specialties, including Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, Conscious Sedation, and Emergency/Trauma. In addition, he learned in detail how to closely and accurately evaluate a patient’s total oral health needs and create a comprehensive plan to meet those needs.
After starting his first dental practice in Nevada following his residency, Dr. Wilcox returned to Missoula and opened Montana Dental Arts. Outside of the office, Dr. Wilcox enjoys spending time with his wife, Crista, and their four young children. He spends his free time hunting, fishing, kayaking, and keeping up with Grizzly Football.
What Dr. Wilcox loves about his job:
I love when a plan comes together. When treatment is complete and my patient is comfortable and happy with their treatment results. It is very gratifying to initiate maintenance on a patient and report that their teeth and gums are in great condition! They do not need any dental treatment at this time and I will see them for their next evaluation in 6 months.

I love when we can help a patient in need. When a patient comes to me in pain and our treatment allows them to sleep, eat and function comfortably. I love creating smiles. It’s great when a tooth or teeth replacement options provides a patient with the comfort, function, and smile they have been missing.
